Use Visualisation and give a confident presentation
Many writers about success strongly recommend the use of visualisation. Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich" stresses that success comes from "seeing and feeling and believing" the result you want.
Are there any examples of Visualisation and success?
Olympic Athletes
In the 1976 Olympics, the Russian team was winning almost all of the events. Other teams were baffled because they trained just as hard but without success. At first, they thought the Russians were using drugs. But the Russians tested positive.
It was later revealed that the Russian athletes used visualisation regularly. In their minds, they saw, and felt, and smelled, and heard their imaginary surroundings as if they were performing and winning in front of an audience. The results were spectacular.
Basketball Players
The visualisation technique was used with basketball players at the University of Chicago. The players were split into three groups. Each group was tested initially on how many free throws they could make.
Next, the first group practised free throws every day for an hour. The second group just visualized themselves making free throws. The third group did nothing.
After 30 days, they were tested again. The first group improved by 24%. The second group improved by 23% without touching a basketball!!!! The third group did not improve which was expected.
Imagine what you could do if you implemented both practice and the mental rehearsal technique of visualization. The sky is the limit.
How to visualise
Your aim is to create the experience you want. What do you want to happen? What do you want to hear, to see, to feel?
1. Desire.
When you have a powerful desire to do something, and you don't have any resistance, you are leveraging the power of the Universe.
2. Best times to visualize.
The best time to visualize is right after a meditation session. This way, you are very calm and centred. You don't need a lot of time to do it. If you meditate for 15 to 20 minutes, all you would have to do is to add on about 5 minutes worth of visualization.
3. Get excited.
The more excited that you can get with what you visualize, the better.
For example: If you wanted to give a great presentation, all you would have to do would be to engage all of your senses.
See yourself standing confidently on stage looking at the audience.
Feel how calm you are and how you are enjoying the event.
Listen to the applause you get and the positive comments you receive
4. Create the feeling that you already have what you want.
The trick to visualizing is to attract what you want and not to doubt that it is coming. Doubt is resistance, and when you doubt that you will get what you want, it's as if you are not really sure whether you want it or not.
You have to create the feeling within your body that you already have what you want. When you can do that, your success is assured.
Conclusion
I hope this session on using visualisation to enhance your performance has been useful. When you can convince your mind (through images, sounds, smells and feelings) that you will succeed, you will achieve the positive outcome that you desire.
